Prior to treatment the dentist examines the patient to make sure that they are suitable to have tooth whitening. Any cavities would have to be treated and any teeth that might not respond to the whitening treatment identified. Treatment involves taking an impression of the teeth and then constructing custom made whitening trays. These are subsequently fitted and instructions given on using the whitening gel. It usually takes about two weeks to achieve a result but this may take longer for certain patients.
